Our practice nurses are able to provide advice about many aspects of health care including Family Planning, Asthma,  Diabetes, HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) , Health promotion, Smoking Cessation, immunisations (for travel and routine baby immunisations), dressings e.t.c. They carry out all Cervical Smears on ladies on the NHS Recall system. 

They can also deal with a variety of minor injuries such as sprains, burns, and splinters. It is often much easier to get an appointment with one of our Nurses. If you think they may be able to deal with your problem please ask the Receptionist for an appointment. If you are not sure the Receptionist may be able to help you.

One of our Nurses also runs a special clinic for Patients with Coronary Heart Disease. This is a new NHS initiative and if you suffer with this condition you will be contacted over the next twelve months.

Health Visitor

Our Health Visitor is an experienced nurse and midwife who has additional training. She can offer advice and help especially relating to babies, children under 5 years, the elderly and handicapped. This might include advice about feeding, weaning, minor ailments and immunisations. The Health Visitor should be your first port of call for any problems unless you feel your child is unwell when you should make an appointment with a doctor. She has an open access (no appointment necessary) baby clinic each Wednesday from 1:30 - 3:30pm. Alternatively she can make individual appointments to see you at the surgery or at your home.  

Midwife

We are awaiting the appointment of a new permanent midwife.

To contact tel. 01689 814286 Via Community Midwives office (or via Reception) Antenatal clinic every Tuesday 2.0-4.0pm. 

This is run by the Midwife by appointment only. Our midwife undertakes most antenatal care, but you are welcome to see a doctor at any time should you wish. All postnatal checks and the first check our done by one of the doctors. If you become pregnant please contact reception to make an initial appointment with a doctor.

If you have not been seen by a district nurse before please contact them via the surgery. Please try to ring us as early as possible if you wish her to call the same day. She provides nursing care for patients at home and support and advice for their relatives. The work of our District Nurses is wide but includes dressings, suture removal, blood tests, catheter and stoma care, incontinence advice and help and support to carers.
