We encourage all patients to request prescriptions online. This is by far the quickest and easiest way of requesting them and such requests are processed much faster than if you hand in a written tear-off part of the prescription via Reception. You can also send us a message with your request if you have any query.
If you nominate a Pharmacy (as we encourage everyone to do) the prescription is then sent direct to your chosen Pharmacy which could be near your place of work or holiday location. It is best to allow a minimum of 3 days from when you make the request for your prescription to be processed although we always do this as quickly as we can. Pharmacies sometimes need additional time to process the prescription so please allow for this before going to collect it.
You can also request repeat prescription by returning the tears off slip off our last prescription with the items you want ticked or posting it to us or dropping it in at Reception. If a stamped addressed envelope is supplied, your prescription can be returned via Royal Mail. Find our postal address.
You need to be registered for online services to use this service which is quick and easy.

Please do not telephone for repeat prescriptions. Our Reception staff are told to decline such requests in all but very special situations.

Parents can also use this for queries about their children’s medication. Please make sure you make it clear who the query is about if not yourself and your relationship to that patient. We aim to respond within 72 hours. If you mark your email ‘URGENT’ we will endeavour to deal with it sooner. Please note we will not routinely reply to your email unless there is a further query.
Please also note that you cannot order routine repeat medications on this email address which is solely for queries about your repeat or other prescription. You should continue to order repeat medications as usual either online or using the paper slip attached to your prescription.

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, Practice nurse or our Clinical Pharmacist at least once a year to review regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions. These appointments can often be done by telephone. Reception can advise.
Hospital Requests for medications
Sometimes you may see a Consultant who gives you a prescription in out patients. These should be obtained from the Hospital Pharmacy. If that is closed or your Consultant asks you to contact us please be aware it can take up to 5 days to process such requests because they are often not straightforward and require careful checks.
Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD)
If you take regular, repeat medication that does not change frequently, you may be eligible for the NHS electronic repeat dispensing service.
eRD allows us to authorise and issue a batch of repeat prescriptions to your nominated pharmacy that can cover up to 12 months (this will be based on your circumstances and clinical need). So there’s no need for you to order them each time.
It’s reliable, secure and confidential. Your regular prescriptions are stored securely on the NHS database, so they’ll be ready at the pharmacy each time you need them.
When your pharmacy supplies your final prescription in the batch, they will advise you to contact us. We may want to see you to review your medication, you may also require routine blood tests or other required monitoring, this needs to be done before more prescriptions are authorised.
Only Order What You Need
Please remember to only order what you need. Medicines waste costs around £9 million a year in South East London which could be used on vital NHS services. You can reduce your waste by:
Checking what medicines you still have at home before ordering your prescription
Only ticking the boxes on your repeat prescription forms for medicines you really need
If you use the electronic prescription service, telling your pharmacist if they give you medicines you’re no longer using or already have enough of at home
Telling your GP or pharmacist if you’ve stopped taking any medicines, so they can be removed from your repeat list
Not stockpiling medicines
Ordering online via your GP website which may also be quicker and more convenient for you
